Julia’s Contemplative Portraits by Buffalo Bayou

June 23, 2018

Introducing the coolest, most humble world traveler I know who decided to have her portraits by Buffalo Bayou. Julia is so sweet and we had a blast exploring downtown Houston together!

I loved that Julia wanted to walk the streets of the city. Some of my favorite images are those with tall buildings in the background and traffic lights. I was born and raised in the Houston area, and I have so much love in my heart for downtown. It was really special for me to get to photograph Julia here.

Julia is amazing. She spent several years of her life thus far competitively sailing and has competed as far away as China! I think it’s so important for seniors to travel and explore new places. Meeting people who are different from you gives you a fresh outlook on life and a unique perspective that many people miss out on. I attribute a lot of my success as a former student and now in the work that I do to my experiences abroad in China, Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, and the Mid-West. You don’t necessarily have to go very far to get an enriching experience. Sometimes just heading next door can teach you so much.

I thought it was great that Julia wanted to look more pensive in her portraits by Buffalo Bayou. Although she has a beautiful smile, I enjoyed bringing her into a more contemplative look that is not common for the majority of seniors I photograph. Julia has the most beautiful green/blue eyes that I’ve ever seen. Her headshots below are some of my favorite images from the Class of 2018!
