Flower crowns

March 25, 2017

And here came spring! The time for flowey dresses, flowers, and flower crowns! I must admit the flower crown craze hooked me completely. Yesterday, Sydney and I went outside and, despite the wind and clouds, created a set that I’m simply swooning over!

It’s hard to believe there’s only two months left until graduation. I am really going to miss these sessions with Syd. She exudes positivity and spontaneity and her joyful spirit knows no limits.

We used two different flower crowns that I made a few weeks prior. Believe it or not, they were relatively easy to make, and there are some fabulous flower crown DIY tutorial videos I watched to get an idea of what supplies I needed and the how-to of everything. It doesn’t take too long to find great resources online, but if you’re interested, here are the videos I watched!

Style Me Pretty

I had Wil pick out the flowers (are you surprised?) because that is really not my forte. Somehow it IS Wil’s forte because he definitely has an eye for the right colors and floral textures. All in all each crown took me about an hour for each. I can’t wait to make these again.

Props can be cheesy, for sure, but over time I’ve come to realize that if you style a shoot right, the props fit in quite naturally. The background, dress, and hair really brought everything together to create a specific look that just makes sense. That’s one of the reasons why flower crowns are so popular right now. As a whole the concept was very easy and fun to execute, and the end result is so beautiful!

I would be totally into doing this again, especially if it meant I got to make more flower crowns and binge watch Bob’s Burgers! Yes, please.
